Liverpool are set to part company with throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark.

Gronnemark first linked up with Jurgen Klopp’s side following the 2018 Champions League final defeat and helped revolutionised their technique.

Under the former Danish sprinter and bobsleigh rider, the Reds went from the Premier League’s third-worst teams for throw-ins to one of its leading lights.

His arrival coincided with a Champions League triumph in the first 12 months before winning a long-waited league title with 14 goals traced to throw-ins.

Gronnemark, who has worked with other clubs alongside his role at Anfield, confirmed the impending departure via his Twitter account on Wednesday.

He said: “Liverpool and I have decided not to continue our agreement about the throw-in coaching after five great seasons.

“I’m proud of being a part of taking LFC from 18th to 1st in the Premier League on throw-ins under pressure.

“The last seasons didn´t allow me to work as much with the throw-ins as I wanted – and therefore it is natural and expectable (sic) that we say thanks for this time now.

“Thank you for a great time and cooperation, to Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp, the staff and players.

“We had a fantastic ride.”
