Xavi has put the majority of his Barcelona squad ‘up for sale’
Arne Slot is keen to stamp his authority on his newly-acquired Liverpool squad this summer by splashing the cash in the transfer window, and a fire sale in Spain could certainly catch his eye. According to Sport, Barcelona have put ‘over half’ of their squad up for sale in the hope of raising funds to improve their financial situation, and there may be some interesting opportunities for the Reds to explore as a result. Express Sport takes a look at four players who could be prized away from the Camp Nou…
Ronald Arajuo
Liverpool are in the market for at least one centre-back this summer, and Araujo is among those who could be of interest. The Uruguay international has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea previously, and his proven experience at the top level could make him a good fit for Liverpool. Araujo can also be deployed in right-back when necessary, which would provide Reds with further cover in an area of the pitch where they have lacked depth previously.
Frenkie De Jong
Although Jurgen Klopp orchestrated a major rebuild of his midfield ranks last summer, there is still room for improvement centrally for Liverpool. De Jong could therefore be the final piece of the puzzle for the Reds in that department given that he is regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football. The Dutchman has admirers around the Premier League and thus acquiring his services would be a major sign of intent by Liverpool.

Alex Balde
With Andrew Robertson not getting any younger and Konstantinos Tsimikas firmly in the shop window at Anfield, Barca left-back Balde could be an option explored by Liverpool. The Spain international has impressed in his past two seasons in the La Liga, and his desire to get forward and be a threat in the final third could see him be a seamless Robertson successor. Aged 20, the defender would be a signing for the short and long term as well.

Raphinha
Although it is claimed that Mohamed Salah is set to stay with Liverpool this summer, an alternative option on the right wing is desired by the higher powers at the club. Raphinha has been tipped to return to the Premier League on countless occasions, and his pace and energy on the flank could make him a top-quality rotational option for Slot to work with.
