Liverpool have reportedly tabled an offer for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, though he is not expected to be a part of Arne Slot’s squad straight away if the bid is accepted.

The Reds are yet to make a signing this summer after recently being snubbed by Spain international Martin Zubimendi, who has opted to remain at Real Sociedad rather than head to Anfield.

Liverpool are expected to be busy in the final fortnight of the transfer window though, and they are now working on a deal to sign Alisson’s long-term successor.

According to Relevo, Slot’s side have tabled a bid worth approximately £30million to sign Mamardashvili. Valencia are currently mulling over the offer, having held several rounds of verbal talks with the Merseyside outfit.

The La Liga side believe that the bid is ‘very attractive’ but they have not decided whether to accept it at this stage. Valencia’s board members are set to hold talks over the proposal before responding.

Liverpool have made it clear that Mamardashvili will be loaned out upon his arrival in England, but not back to the Mestalla Stadium outfit. Instead, the Georgia international will reportedly spend at least one campaign with Bournemouth to gain Premier League experience.

The Cherries are willing to pay the goalkeeper’s increased salary of £3.4m, which is more than what Valencia can afford at present.

Mamardashvili is also keen to make the move to the Premier League and reportedly feels that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in his career. He rejected an approach from a Saudi Pro League side earlier this summer in favour of remaining with Valencia.

Liverpool are hoping that negotiations move quickly as they are aware that other clubs have shortlisted Mamardashvili as a potential goalkeeper target and they therefore would like to avoid any form of ‘soap opera’.

It remains to be seen whether the arrival of the Georgian, who enjoyed a sensational Euro 2024 which highlighted his quality, will be Liverpool’s one and only signing of the summer. Slot is keen to sign a new No. 6 to be a stalwart in his midfield but fears have been raised about the quality of the options on the market and the Reds may therefore trust their current crop of players in that department.
