Arne Slot is still waiting to announce his first signing as Liverpool manager.
Liverpool have reportedly refused to rule out a late dash to sign free agent Adrien Rabiot, as Arne Slot looks to bolster his midfield options for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds are the only Premier League side not to add to their squad this summer, with Slot having started life at Anfield with the same crop of players left behind by Jurgen Klopp.
It hasn’t been for the lack of effort, with Liverpool looking as if they were set to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, before the Spanish midfielder had a change of heart and backed out of the move.
La Real boss Imanol Alguaci did hint at a potential Zubimendi U-turn, but in the meantime, Liverpool could be forced to look elsewhere.
One target who continues to be linked to an Anfield move is Rabiot, with L’Equipe reporting Liverpool’s interest has remained throughout the summer.
Rabiot turned down the prospect of a contract extension at Juventus earlier this year, before leaving the Old Lady after five largely successful years.
A winner of four major honours during his time in Turin, the French outlet claim Slot and co. could spring a move for the free agent, especially if their Zubimendi pursuit continues to go nowhere.
Liverpool aren’t alone though, with the report stating Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are both keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Adrien Rabiot has been a free agent ever since leaving Juventus earlier this summer.
However, any fears that rivals Manchester United might swoop in and snatch Rabiot away from them have been quelled, with the three-time European champions said to no longer be interested.
United have been long-time admirers of the Frenchman, with Erik ten Hag’s side tipped to make a move when his contract at Juventus expired at the end of last season.
But that looks unlikely to transpire, not least because United are believed to have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for the signing of Manuel Ugarte.
Liverpool won’t be pressured into making a snap decision on Rabiot, given they would be able to acquire his services beyond next week’s transfer deadline.

That’s not the case for all of the Reds’ outstanding business, with Joe Gomez just one of several players whose future remains in doubt.
Gomez was left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s victory over Ipswich Town, as talk about a move away from the club begins to hot up.
It’s suggested Liverpool would be open to letting Gomez leave the club, but only if their valuation is met.
Gomez has three years left on his Liverpool deal, meaning any deal would have to be agreed with favourable terms for the 2019/20 Premier League winners.
