Arne Slot has a number of dilemmas to solve at Liverpool before next summer
Liverpool appear to be facing yet another contract dilemma with Arne Slot having plenty to think about behind the scenes. A number of Reds players are in the final year of their existing deals, with their futures uncertain beyond the end of this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are the most senior players who are yet to sign new contracts at Anfield. Luis Diaz, meanwhile, remains tied down until 2027 but is said to be attracting interest from elsewhere after his flying start to the campaign.
The 27-year-old has scored five goals in as many Premier League games, which has reportedly alerted the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool are preparing to offer him a new and improved contract in a bid to ward off the interest, according to This Is Anfield.

It is said that Liverpool want to reward Diaz with a deal reflecting his status as one of their most important players. However, it remains to be seen if they will be able to meet his wage demands, which are likely to have increased given his current form.
Diaz’s impressive outlay will put him in a strong position to negotiate a blockbuster salary in line with Liverpool’s highest earners. If the Reds are unwilling to give him what he wants, it could open the door for Barcelona or PSG to pounce at the end of the season.
The interest in Diaz will only increase if he continues to shine for Liverpool, putting pressure on the Reds to break the bank with his salary. Only time will tell if they can strike an agreement to keep the winger at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool will also need to make swift progress in negotiating deals with Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Van Dijk. The former is said to be a potential target for Real Madrid, while Salah and Van Dijk have been linked with big-money moves to Saudi Arabia.
All three players will command significant salaries to extend their Liverpool contracts, meaning the Reds may be forced to make a huge dent in their wage budget to keep them happy.
Spending heavily to retain the services of their existing stars could also have a detrimental impact when it comes to the transfer market. Liverpool could be left with less money to spend on recruiting new talent, potentially making deals harder to come by next summer.
There is plenty of time to negotiate with all four players before the end of the season, but the situation has thrown up plenty of dilemmas for the Merseyside giants to ponder in the coming months.
