Liverpool could still snatch two new forwards this summer, as well as the £51million capture of Martin Zubimendi.

It’s been a sleepy start to the transfer window for the Reds, with Arne Slot and co. happy to bide their time in the market.

Things could be about to spark into life though, with Liverpool said to be edging closer to signing Zubimendi.

It’s claimed Liverpool are willing to spend big on securing the Spanish midfielder’s signature, with Zubimendi boasting a £51m release clause in his Real Sociedad contract.

It would mark the first signing of the Slot era at Anfield, but Liverpool are said to be eyeing up even more additions after that.

The six-time European champions could sign two forward-minded players before the window shuts, as per The Independent.

It’s reported the Merseyside outfit have retained interest in the services of Newcastle United ace Anthony Gordon.

Gordon, who featured once for England at this summer’s European Championship, joined Newcastle during the 2023 January window for £45m.

But the former Everton star has been labelled as a potential Liverpool target, with Slot keen to reinforce his attacking line ahead of the new season.

Several factors, including Newcastle’s asking price, may force Liverpool to look elsewhere, but according to the report, the Reds might even add two attacking players to their roster this summer.

It comes amid rumours Liverpool forwards Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz might be on the move, be that this summer or in the near future.

Barcelona had been mooted as a possible Diaz suitor earlier in the window, but the Catalan giant’s precarious financial position appears to have halted any advancements.

Whereas Salah, who has just one year left on his deal with the 2019/20 Premier League champions, continues to attract interest from Saudi Arabia.

Salah would be able to agree a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of England as early as January 2025.

It means Slot and his army of transfer gurus may have to move quickly this summer to add attackers to their ranks, should the suitable candidates present themselves.

Liverpool’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign kicks off away to newbies Ipswich Town on Saturday August 17, before Slot’s first official game in charge at Anfield follows a week later against Brentford.
