Liverpool could give Arne Slot his dream start by completing two exciting deals
Liverpool could make Arne Slot’s transfer dreams come true by completing two exciting transfers ahead of their Premier League opener next weekend. The Reds will travel to Portman Road to face newly-promoted Ipswich Town in a potential banana skin for the Dutchman in his first competitive game.
The six-time European champions are yet to make any summer signings despite being linked with a host of high-profile names. However, things could be about to change quickly as the market ramps up with less than four weeks remaining until the end of the window.
Slot will be hoping for Liverpool’s recruitment drive to spring into life as quickly as possible over the coming days. He will have big shoes to fill after the exit of Jurgen Klopp and will benefit from all the help he can get when it comes to improving his squad.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is said to have emerged as a potential target for the Reds
He is thought to be keen on signing a new goalkeeper, with Alisson Becker now the wrong side of 30 and Caoimhin Kelleher facing an uncertain future. Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been linked with a move to Anfield and it seems a deal could be done for a relative bargain over the next few days.
It has been reported that Liverpool could sign the Georgia international for around £34million, which is a modest fee for one of Europe’s hottest prospects between the sticks. It seems likely that he would be loaned out for his first season before returning to Anfield in the summer of 2025.
While a successful move for Mamardashvili would not be an immediate solution for Liverpool, it would at least give Slot peace of mind in the knowledge that Alisson’s long-term replacement would already be in the building.
Liverpool have also been widely tipped to sign a new wide player with Mohamed Salah having entered the final year of his Anfield contract. The Egyptian maestro has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, either now or at the end of the season when he will become a free agent.

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon was reportedly targeted earlier in the window after having his ‘head turned’ while representing England at Euro 2024. However, Liverpool’s interest is said to have cooled since then with the Magpies no longer needing to raise money by selling important players.
An exciting alternative could present itself in the form of Mohamed Kudus, who impressed in his debut season with West Ham after moving from Ajax last summer. He is thought to have a release clause of around £85m, meaning Liverpool could bypass negotiations at club level by simply matching it.
Kudus has already shown that he can mix it with the Premier League’s very best wingers, while he still has plenty of room for additional growth at the age of 24. He could be the ideal long-term replacement for Salah but only time will tell if he ends up joining Liverpool, with the Reds running out of time to give Slot the signings he would surely love to make.
