talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor
Gabriel Agbonlahor has heaped accolades on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah following his dominant performance against Chelsea, where the Egyptian star not only scored from the spot but also provided the assist for Curtis Jones’ decisive goal, ensuring Liverpool stayed at the summit of the Premier League.
Agbonlahor, who was named Premier League player of the month in November 2007, was so taken with Salah’s display that he included him in his talkSPORT team of the week and humorously queried about the forward’s diet. “Mo Salah, where do you start? The way he was bullying the Chelsea defence, I want to know what Mo Salah eats. I want to know his workouts because he is so strong. He took his penalty very well no-nonsense, no casual run-up, run up to it and put your foot through it. Goal.”
The former Aston Villa striker didn’t stop there, praising Salah’s vision and execution: “Also, his ball for Curtis Jones’ goal was outstanding. Not many players see that and he was making these sorts of balls and passes all game. His vision is out of this world.”
With Salah’s contract talks a hot topic, Agbonlahor didn’t mince words about the importance of keeping him at Anfield: “If it’s £450,000 a week, I don’t care what it is. They can’t afford to lose Mo Salah on a free transfer. Outstanding talent and still playing at a high level.”
