Vinicius Junior faces a month out injured
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior will miss the upcoming Champions League showdown with Liverpool due to a hamstring injury. The Brazilian ace, who played the full 90 minutes in Real’s 3-0 victory over Leganes, reportedly faces a month out on the sidelines.
A club statement on Monday confirmed: “Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid medical services on our player Vini Jr, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”
While the duration of his absence remains unconfirmed, Spanish media speculate that the 24-year-old might be out for nearly a month.
With Real Madrid set to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, they have had a mixed start to this season’s Champions League, currently sitting 18th in the table, while Liverpool top the league phase with a perfect record.
Vinicius has netted 12 goals for Real this campaign, including two hat-tricks in recent games. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, trailing Barcelona by four points in LaLiga but with a game in hand, are preparing to play Getafe at home on Sunday.
