Jurgen Klopp has agreed to become Liverpool’s new ambassador for the LFC Foundation
Liverpool have announced that Jurgen Klopp will return to the club in a new role just months after the Anfield icon’s departure as head coach. Klopp confirmed he was stepping down in January after eight seasons in charge and was replaced by Arne Slot, but he will be back working with the club in some capacity in the coming months.
In an unprecedented move, Liverpool have named the 57-year-old as the club’s honorary ambassador for their charity, the LFC Foundation. Klopp has been a vocal advocate of the LFC Foundation’s work for several years, once describing it as the ‘best department’ inside the Merseyside club.
The role will see Klopp continue to support the club on visits to the club’s training facilities in Kirkby or speaking publicly about the charity’s work and attending special events.
It comes less than 24 hours after it emerged Klopp had turned down the chance to take over as the USA’s new head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

In a statement released by the club on Friday, Klopp said he was “really proud” to continue working with the club during his period of time away from football management.
“The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond,” Klopp told the club’s official website.
“I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”
Following Klopp’s last game in charge, the German donated a number of unique signed items from his time at the club to the LFC Foundation, which raised over £40,000 in the space of a week.

Having his support has been priceless for us over the years and to have that continue is fantastic and highlights his commitment to the Foundation and the work that we continue to do across the Liverpool City Region.
