Leeds news: Riyah Mahrez cited in ‘big’ claim – pundit

Jose Mourinho has not been impressed with Leeds United right-back Rasmus Kristensen since he joined Roma on loan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie likened the Kritensen’s situation to that of Riyad Mahrez at Man City.
Kristensen only joined Leeds last summer but following their relegation to the Championship has gone on loan to Mourinho’s Roma side for the 2023-24 campaign.
The 26-year-old’s contract at Elland Road runs until 2027.
Kristensen has made two appearances for the Italian side so far this season but has been left out of their squad for their upcoming Europa League campaign.
McAvennie suggested the right-back has not done enough to prove himself to Mourinho.
“If Mourinho doesn’t see you training the way he wants you to train you are not in the team,” he told Football Insider.
“It was like Pep with Mahrez, Mahrez is a wonderful talent but he did not fit into the way Pep [Guardiola] wanted him to play so he is out the door, no matter how good a player he was.
“Pep does not mess about and I think Mourinho is like that. If you do not fit in the system you are not playing.
“Players can’t think when they go on loan to a big club they can just do whatever they want, especially not with someone like Mourinho who is one of the top coaches in the world.“
In other news, according to Kieran Maguire new rule changes set to reward Leeds United for faith in academy stars.
