Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum named Grand Marshal for Sonoma Xfinity Series race

The NASCAR Xfinity Series and Sonoma Raceway have made a last-minute addition with Kelsey Plum as Grand Marshal. The Las Vegas Aces star will also help give the command for the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250.

WNBA news and views online and especially on television have gone way up. Stars like Kelsey Plum were paving the way for the Caitlin Clark/Angel Reese boom that we are seeing currently.

The two-time WNBA Champion is going to be at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday to help get the Xfinity Series going. This is a great grab for NASCAR and a lot of fans will love to see this addition for race day.

Kelsey Plum is going to be treated to a great race. The Xfinity Series puts on a show on the road courses and this will be no different. Can Shane Van Gisbergen go back to back? Or will we see another driver assert their dominance over the road course ace and take the checkered flag?

The Xfinity Series has a knack for these road courses. That’s why they race on them more than any other NASCAR series during the season. Any time you get SVG and AJ Allmendinger on a road course, it’s going to be fun. Add in Ty Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek, Boris Said – it’s going to be a ton of fun Saturday.

There is nothing quite like Wine Country and that includes the racing. Sonoma is repaved, track times will be fast, and the racing will hopefully be entertaining.

Kelsey Plum added last-minute as Grand Marshal

The news being announced early Friday morning was very interesting. Usually, things like Grand Marshal are decided well ahead of time. Adding Kesley Plum brings a relevant, interesting, and fun figure to the race.

While this is great, I’d honestly like to see her be the Cup Series Grand Marshal. Maybe next year after Plum and her aces win another WNBA Championship. It will be good for the Xfinity Series and NASCAR to have her at the track on Saturday.

Speaking of the Cup Series, there is a new tire setup to look forward to. Not necessarily a compound change, but a new setup in the way the tires are aired up and the sets given to teams.

There is also a new wall that has been added at Turn 11. No more tire barriers around that U-Turn on the course. That means drivers will have to mind their Ps and Qs and stay in the limits of the track. Concrete does a lot more damage than rubber tires.
