Kylian Mbappe: Journalist drops Liverpool bombshell with club-record offer launched to rival Real Madrid

It is not guaranteed that Kylian Mbappe will end up at Real Madrid this summer as Liverpool have burst into the race with a massive proposal, one journalist has claimed.
Last month, Mbappe put clubs around Europe on alert by revealing he would not be activating the option to extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract from 2024 to 2025. The decision means PSG must either try to agree an entire new contract with the forward or sell him this summer. They do not want him to leave on a free transfer in 2024 under any circumstances.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed the club’s plans regarding Mbappe at the press conference which saw Luis Enrique replace Christophe Galtier as manager.
“Our position is very clear. If Kylian Mbappe wants to stay – we want him to stay – he needs to sign a new contract,” the chief said.
“We cannot let the best player in the world right now leave for free. That is impossible.”
Al-Khelaifi added that Mbappe has told him he is not planning to leave on a free next year, so if this happens, ‘it is not our (PSG’s) fault’. French newspaper L’Equipe, meanwhile, claimed recently that PSG have set a deadline of July 31 for Mbappe to sign a new deal, and if this doesn’t happen then they will put him on the market.

Madrid is widely viewed as the most likely next destination for Mbappe. Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has huge admiration for him and believes he can be a great replacement for Karim Benzema. The chief was fuming when Mbappe rejected his advances last year to stay on at PSG.
Plus, Madrid are one of the few clubs in the world who have the money and worldwide recognition necessary to sign the 24-year-old.

But there is also a small chance Mbappe could end up in the Premier League next. Arsenal have been linked, while Liverpool are also in with a shot. Mbappe has previously admitted his mother supports Liverpool.
According to Sport Witness, who cite reporter Edu Aguirre, PSG have ‘received an offer from Liverpool’ for Mbappe.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have apparently ‘entered the scene’ by sending PSG a stunning bid worth €200m (£170.5m).
The report adds that Al-Khelaifi has officially put the attacker up for sale, which contradicts the previous claim about PSG waiting until July 31 before making a final decision.
Mbappe heading to Anfield for that fee would break two big transfer records. It would make him the most expensive player in Liverpool’s history, ahead of £85m striker Darwin Nunez.
The move would also break the Premier League transfer record. That feat is currently held by midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who swapped Benfica for Chelsea in a £107m deal in January.
Given the fact Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world right now, it would come as no surprise if Klopp were to be interested in signing him. However, it is hard to see how Liverpool would get the money together to pay such a huge amount for his services.
If Mbappe were to run down his PSG deal and leave on a free next year, then Liverpool might stand a better chance. But even then, they would have to fend off intense interest from Madrid to complete a deal.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have reportedly reignited their interest in a £39m Primeira Liga ace.
