Kyle Walker named his four toughest opponents, didn’t choose either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi
Kyle Walker failed to name Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi when he picked the FOUR toughest opponents of his career.
The Manchester City star is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in world football and is known for his searing pace.
He’s dueled with some of the best wingers and forwards during his stellar club and international career, having earned 75 caps for England.
The 32-year-old has come up against the likes of Ronaldo and Messi, but DIDN’T select either superstar forward when revealing the toughest opponents of his career.
Instead he named former Chelsea man Eden Hazard, ex-Liverpool forward Sadio Mane as well as Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.
Speaking to BBC, he said: “First of all, I would say (Eden) Hazard. We’ve had some good battles at Tottenham, you know, Tottenham vs. Chelsea. He was really tough to mark, and sometimes I got the better of him, sometimes he got the better of me.
“Second, I would say (Sadio) Mane. Again, you know, being at Manchester City, I’ve had some great rivals with Liverpool and coming up against him was always tough. You know, so skillful, worked really hard for the team, and also, you know, chipped in with a lot of goals, sometimes against me.”
Walker added: “(Kylian) Mbappe or Vinicius Junior. I think it’s hard to say between them both. You know, Mbappe very, very skillful. Obviously played against him at PSG and against France in the World Cup.
“Vinicius Junior I think the same, very skillful young player, exciting winger, you know, with the world at his feet, so I think both of them deserve a mention, and it would be hard for me to say a top three.”
Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are at the top of their games and are among the best players in world football following their performances for their respective clubs.
Hazard and Mane haven’t been able to replicate their Premier League form at their new sides, but are still two highly-skilled players.
