A round-up of the latest Arsenal news as Jurgen Klopp predicts ‘problems’ with four players including Gabriel Martinelli and boss Mikel Arteta gives an ‘important’ plea.
Newcastle United ready a £15m transfer for Arsenal outcast Aaron Ramsdale
Newcastle United are prepared to make a £15m bid for the transfer of Arsenal outcast Aaron Ramsdale this summer. That is according to The Telegraph, which reports that the Toon have identified a swoop for the goalkeeper as their first bit of business for the upcoming window.
Magpies coach Eddie Howe is keen to reunite with Ramsdale after previously signing him for AFC Bournemouth. The St James’ Park natives are also happy to give the 26-year-old a five-year contract. Yet he will not be the instant No1 on Tyneside and will have to fight Nick Pope.
Ramsdale and Pope would fight for the No1 shirt at Newcastle with Howe set to let Martin Dubravka leave. Arsenal are happy to let Ramsdale leave if they receive a suitable offer for his transfer. But the Magpies are set to open discussions with an offer of around just £15m.

Jurgen Klopp predicts Mikel Arteta will face ‘problems’ with four Arsenal players
Departing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp predicts Mikel Arteta will face ‘problems’ keeping four Arsenal players happy next season. But the German backs the Gunners to challenge for the Premier League title again in 2024/25, so long as the Spaniard manages their discontent.
Klopp believes Arteta preferring Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz and not Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus could upset their Brazilians. Jesus has started just two of Arsenal’s last 15 Premier League games at striker. Martinelli last started a match at Sheffield United in March.
Arteta has opted to stick with Havertz at centre-forward as the midfielder has offered seven goals and six assists in his last 11 starts at striker. Trossard also boasts five goals in his past seven outings. But Klopp feels Arteta risks causing upset in his side as players push to start.
“Arsenal, young, they can go again,” Klopp has told The Times. “They will have problems like everyone else. Trossard playing and not Martinelli anymore, and Gabriel Jesus not playing but Havertz [is] playing. How will that work out?
“Can [Arteta] really manage that? There are always potential problems. If you are successful, there are problems. If you are nearly successful, there are problems.”

Mikel Arteta sends Arsenal a ‘really important’ transfer plea
Mikel Arteta has urged Arsenal to act early in the summer transfer window. But the Spaniard fears Euro 2024 and the Copa America may deny the Gunners an ‘ideal’ market. Arteta says it is ‘important’ to get any new recruits through their door soon so they can settle in quicker.
Arsenal acted early last summer to get Kai Havertz from Chelsea in June plus Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice from AFC Ajax and West Ham United in July. It meant the trio could all head off on the club’s pre-season USA tour. David Raya arrived on loan from Brentford in August.
But Euro 2024 and the Copa America will likely complicate Arteta’s efforts this summer. The tournaments run from mid-June to mid-July, at which point the Gunners will fly to America for Arsenal’s 2024 pre-season tour. So, Arteta concedes it may be a challenging off-season.
“That’s the ideal scenario,” Arteta said in his press conference this Friday. “Every club wants that. We want that as coaches and for the players especially you want that, and then for the team and the environment.
“When you do that, something clicks, something starts to build and that’s really important because it starts to give you momentum. We have the Euros this season and Copa America, and it might be a different summer.”
