Jurgen Klopp has been vocal about the demands of the Liverpool job
Arne Slot has been made perfectly aware of the intense spotlight he’s stepping into at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp candidly spoke about the role’s demands and pressures.
Klopp, who is handing over the reins after an almost nine-year tenure, has been open about the exhaustive nature of managing the Reds and his struggle to maintain the club’s success.
Slot therefore can’t say he hasn’t been duly forewarned about the rigours of the job, with Klopp laying out the expectations in a Sky Sports interview earlier this month.
“I’m about being in it 100 per cent until the last day,” said Klopp. “That was always the plan. I was sure that if I didn’t make that decision now, next year it could have been tricky. The thought of picking yourself up for another pre-season, make big decisions.

Arne Slot will have to be all-in to make it work at Anfield
“For that, you really need to be full of energy. 80 per cent is not enough. That’s the truth. It’s too much. It’s a 24/7 job. Yes, there are more important things in life.
“But if you really care then it’s 24/7. I did it for a pretty long time and I knew I couldn’t continue to do it at the standard necessary for a club like Liverpool.”
Since Slot emerged as his successor, Klopp has shown immense support for the Dutchman, even leading Anfield in a chant for the new manager during his emotional farewell.
“You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me,” Klopp urged the fans. “You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team. Change is good.”
Slot has expressed his excitement about the significant step up from the Eredivisie to the Premier League, conveying his sentiments to Feyenoord’s supporters through the club website following the announcement of his departure.
His statement read: “It is certainly not an easy decision to close the door behind you at a club where you have experienced so many wonderful moments, and worked so successfully with so many wonderful people.
“But as a sportsman, an opportunity to become a head coach in the Premier League, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, is difficult to ignore. I am grateful to Feyenoord for their willingness to cooperate in this transition.”
