Jurgen Klopp has provided a hint on his post-Liverpool career.
Jurgen Klopp has ruled out retiring from football altogether after leaving Liverpool this summer. The German has stepped down from his Anfield job after a tremendous nine years, having won a Premier League, Champions League and a host of other honours.
Speculation has intensified over Klopp’s next steps. However, he has insisted that he will take a break from football after a gruelling tenure on Merseyside.
Liverpool spent much of Klopp’s reign battling with big-spending Manchester City for the major honours. That has taken its toll on the 56-year-old, although he has promised that he will not retire from football entirely.
Instead, he has appeared to suggest that rather than taking on a coaching role, he could be open to another position within a football club. It was reported several weeks ago that Borussia Dortmund wanted Klopp to return in a head of football capacity.
“It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working altogether,” Klopp told the Willipedia podcast. “But I don’t see myself continuing at the same pace as before at the moment.
“A coach is a coach. And you do it with everything you have or nothing at all. That’s how I understand it. Now I’m taking my time off.
“How am I supposed to know how I’ll feel during or after the time off, and what I want to do then? I have no idea. Let’s wait and see.”
According to the Independent, there has been ‘increasing talk’ over bringing former head coach Klopp back to the club. He guided Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and led them to a Champions League final during a seven-year spell between 2008 and 2015.
Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund
It is claimed that Dortmund would be willing to wait until 2025 to invite Klopp to take up a backroom role. That would allow him time to recuperate after leaving Liverpool, where he is being replaced by Arne Slot.
Meanwhile, Klopp has revealed that he will spend more time in the Majorcan home he owns with wife Ulla. The villa has been renovated into an environmentally friendly eco-house.

“We are getting older and the medical care here is great,” Klopp added. “There are many German doctors and I would like to be able to understand every word, how I feel and so on, when the problems become bigger.
“I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south all my life. I like the weather, the climate, I like the people. There are lots of things I like here. And also people I already know.
“It’s not like I’m looking for new friends. I already have friends for life, and if some of them are here too, that’s cool.”
