IW over 50’s overcame the visiting Australian veterans side by 10 wickets in the midweek match at Newclose, played in great spirits and in front of the Island’s Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff.
The tourists, batting first, scored 108-6 off 20 overs, with the Islanders openers responding to score 112 without loss to win the match.
IW Lord-Lieutenant Susie Sheldon said: “It was a great day, with the matches played in great spirits at a great venue. Newclose is looking its best in the very welcome sunshine- I hope to get invited to the return match in Australia. I much look forward to learning more about the very exciting proposal for the teams to return next year for a tournament and cricket festival at Newclose.”
