Chelsea are said to be stepping up their pursuit of United target Michael Olise
Manchester United will need to revise their summer transfer plans if Chelsea beat them to the signing of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The Red Devils are believed to be keen on landing Olise but it seems Chelsea may have edged ahead in the race to snap him up.
The west Londoners have made the first move in the battle to sign Olise by reaching out to Palace with the aim of striking a deal, according to The Mirror. It is said that Chelsea are desperate to beat United to his signature and have identified him as a priority target.
If United end up missing out on Olise, they will need to switch their focus to other targets with several big names having been linked with potential moves to Old Trafford.
Express Sport takes a look at three alternative options United could pursue this summer…
Pedro Neto could be a shrewd signing for United if Olise joins Chelsea
Pedro Neto
Arsenal and Liverpool have recently been credited with an interest in Pedro Neto, who has been one of Wolves’ best performers over the last few seasons. United could also benefit from securing his signature if Olise joins Chelsea, but any move is likely to be expensive given that he is valued at £46million by Transfermarkt.
Neto was hailed by Gary O’Neil after scoring a brilliant goal against Luton Town last season, with the Wolves boss saying: “He has been absolutely incredible. I am really pleased with where Pedro is at. He has given absolutely everything and showed a big moment of quality, which sums up how he has been for me.”

Bryan Mbeumo
Bryan Mbeumo is thought to be attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle, with a summer move away from Brentford looking like a real possibility. He is able to play out wide and through the middle, which would make him a shrewd signing for United or any other Premier League side wanting more depth in attack.
The Cameroon international recently hinted that he would be open to leaving Brentford, telling L’Equipe: “I’ve spent five seasons at Brentford in a club that knew how to help me grow and take a step forward, but yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, in the best clubs. It’s still enticing to see some big teams interested in me. We’ll see.”
Nico Williams
United have already been linked with a potential move for Nico Williams, who is said to be admired by several Premier League clubs. He registered 17 assists for Athletic Bilbao last season, helping them to finish fifth in La Liga and win the Copa del Rey to end a 40-year trophy drought.
Williams is thought to have a £51m release clause in his contract, making him an expensive signing for United given the limited budget they are working with. However, he could be worth every penny for the Red Devils if they succeed in getting the best out of him next season.
