Gibbs-White sends 20-word message to departing star Joao Moutinho
Joao Moutinho is officially leaving Wolves after five seasons with the club.
Wanderers confirmed the big news on Friday that the veteran is departing, after there was speculation he was not being offered a new deal.
Moutinho has been warming the bench a lot in recent times at Wolves.
The January additions of Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes had a real impact on his playing time, and he was pretty much only getting cameo appearances after the winter window closed.
In his early years at the club Moutinho was absolutely sensational.
The star would wow supporters with his technical ability, and the partnership he had with Ruben Neves was a joy to behold.
He made key contributions in helping Wolves become established in the Premier League again after their promotion.
He’s one of the best players in the club’s history, but the time is right for him to move on.
And tributes have been pouring in for the veteran, who has been sharing them to his Instagram account.
Ruben Neves sent a really heartfelt message, to a man that has had a major impact on his development. The Molineux captain said he would not be the player he is today without Moutinho.
Interestingly, Morgan Gibbs-White – now of Nottingham Forest – has also sent a message to Moutinho following the news that he is leaving.
For a lot of Wolves fans now, Gibbs-White is public enemy number one.
Some of his behaviour since leaving Wolves has been very questionable and provocative.
But his message to Moutinho is a classy one, and it’s clear there’s a lot of respect there. He said: “It was a pleasure to play and learn from you. I wish you all the best in the future. Magician.”
Moutinho shared this message to his own Story, with a few emojis including the heart-eyes one, indicating there is certainly no bad blood.
Fair play to Morgan Gibbs-White, he clearly values what Joao Moutinho has done for him personally
Many Wolves fans now loathe Gibbs-White. And that is understandable.
But fair play to him on this message to Moutinho. It clearly shows that the Portuguese had a really big impact on him.
There are probably plenty of other young players who have be able to learn a lot from him.
Moutinho has had a phenomenal and distinguished career and probably has so many pearls of wisdom to pass on to his teammates.
Whoever gets to share a dressing room with him is very lucky.
