Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville was left stunned by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s incredible first-half display against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The right-back picked out several pinpoint passes across the pitch as Liverpool aimed to exploit the home side’s vulnerable defence.

Neville, on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports, was instantly impressed by Alexander-Arnold’s vision, particularly when he found Mohamed Salah with a sublime pass just 10 minutes in. “The pass is brilliant. To get the ball into that space was literally amazing,” he raved.

However, Alexander-Arnold’s piece de resistance came when his precise deep cross was headed home by Luis Diaz for the opener. “The cross is something else. It’s precision,” Neville added.

“There are very few players I’ve seen in Premier League history that can land it on a sixpence like that with that accuracy. It’s absolutely perfect.”

Neville continued to lavish praise, comparing Alexander-Arnold’s crossing ability to the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David Beckham, and Steven Gerrard in his prime.

The first half got even better for Liverpool when Dominik Szoboszlai’s flicked header was finished off by Alexis Mac Allister, who beat the onrushing Fraser Forster to head the ball in.

Mac Allister was dispossessed, allowing James Maddison to score a consolation goal. However, the half belonged to Liverpool as Szoboszlai netted following a well-executed attack.

Liverpool ultimately went on to win 6-3 after going into the half-time break 3-1 up with Mohamed Salah and Diaz ending with braces.

The Reds’ win took them four points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table, with Arne Slot’s side also boasting a game in hand over the Blues.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Goodison Park, while Arsenal are six points behind Liverpool despite beating Crystal Palace 5-1 on Saturday.
