Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah is among the 82 Premier League footballers whose contracts are set to expire next summer. The Bosman rule allows these players to join another club on a free transfer once their contracts end on June 30, 2025.

Starting from Wednesday, January 1, these 82 players will be permitted to negotiate with foreign clubs. As per the rules, they can sign a pre-contract agreement to secure their future before the season ends.

However, this six-month rule only applies to foreign clubs, as Premier League clubs cannot approach other top-flight players until they are in the final month of their contract. This is a growing concern for Liverpool, not just with Salah, but also with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three Anfield players are nearing the last six months of their respective contracts, sparking speculation about their futures across Merseyside and Europe. Similarly, Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City, like Ilkay Gundogan, has to decide his future following the four-time champions’ recent slump.

Manchester United have six players whose contracts are due to expire, including breakout star Amad, Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton.

Arsenal are contemplating the future of midfield pair Thomas Partey and Jorginho, both key players under Mikel Arteta’s reign. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s captain Son Heung-min could potentially depart for free unless Spurs opt to sell in the January transfer window.

Chelsea appear to be least affected by contract issues, with only backup goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom nearing the end of his deal. Conversely, Everton and Newcastle top the list with eight senior players each set to be out of contract in June.

Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood, who has propelled the team to second place in the table with 11 goals, may have piqued interest from overseas clubs, and Ola Aina is also into the last months of his deal.

The Premier League might also bid farewell to veteran James Milner, who at nearly 39, needs to play 17 more league matches for Brighton to surpass Gareth Barry’s appearance record of 653.
