Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Willian is without a club after terminating his contract at Greek giants Olympiacos.

The Brazilian, who won the Premier League twice during his seven-year stint at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, has struggled to find stability since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2020.

Despite being a key figure and scoring crucial goals for Chelsea, particularly under Mourinho, his form dipped significantly at Arsenal. After leaving the Gunners, he returned to Brazil with Corinthians, where he began his career.

However, his homecoming was marred by virtual threats, leading him to rescind his contract in August 2022. Fulham, newly promoted to the Premier League, decided to bring the veteran back to west London, offering him a one-year deal.

His performances were impressive enough for Fulham to extend his contract for another year as they maintained their top-flight status. Following this, Willian signed a deal with Olympiakos, taking him to Greece.

But Willian’s lacklustre spell in Athens has come to an abrupt end. After failing to impress and without a single goal in 11 appearances, the Brazilian star has parted ways with the club.

Reports suggest Willian himself chose to nullify his contract, thrusting him back onto the transfer scene. Rumours circulate that while he intends to stay in Europe, a possible move to MLS remains on the cards.

Despite the turbulent post-Chelsea years, Willian is confident about his fitness – aiming to dazzle on the pitch until the ripe age of 40.

Reflecting on his physical shape, he recently opened up: “I am feeling great physically and in two seasons at Fulham, I didn’t have any problems at all, so I feel completely great.

“I am working in the gym to be in good shape but, of course, it is different from training every day and being ready inside a club. But I am doing all I can to be in good shape for my next club.

“I think my level physically and mentally is great. I think I can play for three or four years more – maybe until I am 40 years old! I feel motivated and at a high level.”
