Man Utd face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round after clashing in the Premier League this week
Arsenal and Manchester United’s FA Cup third-round rematch at the Emirates is among the games selected for television coverage in January.
The Gunners triumphed 2-0 over United in their Premier League encounter at the same venue this week, but Ruben Amorim’s squad will be seeking retribution when they travel to north London on January 12th for a 3pm kick-off.
Liverpool have been slated for another lunchtime kick-off, hosting Accrington Stanley on January 11th, while Manchester City face Salford City later that evening.
Man Utd are the holders of the FA Cup trophy
Friday and Monday fixtures are also on the cards as Premier League and Championship teams enter the fray. Aston Villa will host West Ham in an all-Premier League tie on Friday, while Dagenham and Redbridge, the second remaining non-league side, will visit Millwall on Monday night.
League Two Bromley’s trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle will not be shown on TV.
Last season saw United clinch victory over rivals City at Wembley to lift the trophy, but defending it be easy. Following Wednesday’s defeat, new head coach Amorim was quizzed about his team’s strategy for their upcoming rematch against Arsenal.
“Set pieces. That is important,” he emphasised to Amazon Prime Video Sport. “And we have to be more aggressive near the opponent’s box. But we have a lot to improve in all areas of the team.”
Tamworth will host Tottenham in round three
Tamworth’s clash with Spurs is their prize for triumphing over Burton Albion, who are two divisions their senior, in the second round. “It’s like a reward for the last two and a half years for everyone involved,” manager Andy Peaks expressed to BBC Radio WM post-draw.
“It’s just a shame that we can’t get more than 4,000 people in The Lamb. Just me alone I must have already been asked for 4,000 tickets. I was quite happy to have a home draw or a really big game away.
“And some of the ties I didn’t really fancy, a long way away and a bit tough. But I just had a feeling when the number 53 came out and I looked at the faces of the ones who were pulling the balls out and they knew it was a big team.”
