Manchester City’s transfer window appears to be sparking into life, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

Julian Alvarez looks to be Atletico Madrid-bound, with the Argentine forward having successfully negotiated a move away from the club.

Despite featuring in 36 of City’s 38 Premier League fixtures last term, Alvarez was said to be unhappy about his game time, with the 24-year-old keen to play more as an out-and-out striker.

Alvarez’s departure could raise as much as £81million for the Blues, with City poised to reinvest the money in reinforcements.

Should they look to add an attacker to their ranks, Express Sport has detailed what Pep Guardiola’s dream forward line might look like next season.

With money to spend, City could flex their financial muscle by securing the signature of Eberechi Eze.

The attacking midfielder has been a long-time transfer target for the Premier League champions, with reports City had a last-minute approach turned down by Crystal Palace last summer.

As a full England international, Eze will likely cost a fair amount, with initial reports suggesting a fee in the region of £68million will be needed.

But with it looking like a gap is about to open up in the City squad, a return for Eze for could be on the cards for Guardiola’s men.

Despite the Premier League season starting in less than two weeks, questions about Jack Grealish’s future remain in the air.

Having excelled during City’s triumphant treble win two seasons ago, Grealish endured a campaign to forget last time around, culminating in him missing the cut for England’s Euro 2024 squad.

However, Grealish has retained the backing of his manager, with Guardiola confident the ex-Aston Villa ace will find his form again.

Speaking earlier this summer, Guardiola said: ““He will be back. He’s struggled this season and Jeremy [Doku] has made an incredible step forward as everyone has seen in the last games.

“But Jack will be back at the level of last season, I’m pretty sure.”

It’s been a busy summer for City’s attackers, with the 2023 European champions having shuffled the pack.

Academy duo Oscar Bobb and James McAtee look as if they’ll make the step up to the senior side, having impressed on City’s pre-season tour of the United States.

City’s only summer signing so far this summer saw Savinho pen a deal worth £30million, having impressed with City Football Group club Girona last season.

The Brazilian could make up one of four summer deals for City’s attackers, should Eze put pen to paper at the Etihad and Alvarez seal his Madrid move later in the window.

Liam Delap is the other notable City attacker to leave this summer after the striker joined Premier League newbies Ipswich Town for £20million.
