Everton & Leeds will try to sign 21-goal striker if they avoid relegation

Everton and Leeds will try to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry if they manage to stay in the Premier League.

That is according to 90min, who believe the Toffees and the Whites will advance their interest in the Sweden international should they avoid relegation.

However, Everton and Leeds are not the only clubs trying to sign Viktor Gyokeres.

What’s the story?

Well, the 24-year-old has put his name up in lights this season with some outstanding performances for Coventry.

Gyokeres has fired the Sky Blues into the Championship Play-Off final with 21 goals in 46 league appearances, while also providing ten assists.

90min add that Wolves are also keen to sign the Swede this summer as they attempt to find an upgrade on Diego Costa and Raul Jimenez.

In fact – according to a story from Sky Sports – Wolves are actually leading the race to sign Gyokeres ahead of West Ham and Crystal Palace, with Leeds and Everton’s ability to pursue a deal currently on hold until they know which division they’ll be playing in next season.

Should Coventry win the Championship Play-Off final, it would surely become harder to take Mark Robins’ talisman away from him.

Everton & Leeds both desperately need Gyokeres or an alternative

Regardless of whether Everton and Leeds stay in the Premier League this season, they have to get themselves a proper No.9 over the summer.

The Toffees have pretty much gone the entire campaign without a reliable frontman due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s persistent injury issues, as Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms struggle at Goodison Park.

In regards to Leeds, the Whites have also been unable to rely on Patrick Bamford due to niggling fitness problems, while he has found life difficult up top when able to make it onto the pitch.

Whatever league Everton and Leeds are playing in next season, a reliable No.9 should be top of their shopping list.
