Steve Borthwick’s England team could face the USA in North America for the first time in over two decades while the British and Irish Lions series is taking place.
As was the case in 2017, England are poised to head to South America to tackle Argentina while some of their best feature for the Lions.
However, they also look set to venture north for the first time since 2021.
England’s 2025 mid-year Tests
According to a report by Mail Sport, England have already agreed on plans with Argentina for a two-Test series against Los Pumas next year with the publication adding there is a ‘chance’ that they will go north too with the RFU in talks over the landmark Test.
While Eddie Jones’ England team in 2017 played just two Tests in Argentina and in 2013, Stuart Lancaster’s side did the same but also clashed with a South America XV in Uruguay.
Now, Borthwick’s side could face off against the USA Eagles in North America for the first time in 24 years.
It would be the eighth Test match between England and USA in their history, four of which coming in Rugby World Cup fixtures.

The most recent clash was in 2021, when the two sides faced off against Twickenham Stadium during the mid-year internationals, with the Red Rose claiming a 43-29 victory.
England have won all eight previous encounters, clinching a massive 106-8 victory in 1999.
The report adds that if Borthwick is recruited as an assistant by British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, England may just play the two Test matches against Argentina.
However, it is understood that no approach has been made as of yet and that the RFU have, therefore, not made any contingency plans.
The fixture against the Americans could well be a huge boost for the interest in the 2031 Rugby World Cup which will be hosted by the USA.
