Premier League clubs can discuss free transfer deals with foreign-based talent from today
Premier League teams including Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool can formally discuss pre-contract agreements with out-of-contract stars from foreign leagues from today. Several high-profile players could join the top-flight in the summer in bargain free transfers.
United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea, in particular, could benefit from saving costs on free agents at the end of the season. Express Sport looks at players whose situations Premier League clubs will be monitoring over the coming weeks and months.
Alphonso Davies
United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with speedy wing-back Davies. The Canadian is set to explore his options with his Bayern Munich contract expiring at the end of the Bundesliga campaign.
Davies has also been strongly linked with Real Madrid, who could solve their full-back issues for the next decade with free transfers for the 24-year-old and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Premier League clubs will still hope to persuade Davies to join the Premier League.
Joshua Kimmich
Any Premier League team wanting an experienced and versatile leader should look no further than Kimmich. Manchester City have been strongly linked with one of Pep Guardiola’s former players, who would be perfect for one of the inverted full-back positions.
Some reports even suggest that City could fast-track a move for Kimmich to January amid their worsening injury crisis. We could see the Germany international, 29, rock up at the Etihad Stadium this month.
Jonathan Tah
Man Utd were linked with a bargain deal for Tah last summer and could get him even cheaper if they agree a pre-contract with the centre-back this month. The 28-year-old centre-back has excelled at Bayer Leverkusen but could explore his options this year.
United need to strengthen all over the pitch. Tah would bring experience at centre-back, particularly if Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof leave in free transfers of their own.

Jonathan David
There should be much more hype around Canadian forward David across Europe. A consistent goalscorer for Lille, the 24-year-old has scored 17 goals this season and 26, 26 and 19 across his three previous campaigns. Poorer strikers will cost so much more money next summer.
Set to leave France at the end of the season, David has reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham. Whoever signs the prolific and versatile forward should be the envy of their European rivals.
Leroy Sane
Sane may feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League. He abruptly left Man City in 2020 and has since performed consistently at Bayern Munich.
The signing of Michael Olise and the continued rise of Jamal Musiala have limited Sane’s Bundesliga starts to only five this term. Sane, now aged 28, has been linked with Man Utd.

Angel Gomes
Gomes’ senior England breakthrough this year came as no surprise to those who have watched him play for Lille since his departure from United. The 24-year-old has excelled in Ligue 1 and now seems set to return to the Premier League, where he has reported free transfer interest from the likes of Arsenal and Spurs.
Paulo Dybala
Dybala infamously came within a whisker of joining Spurs several years ago and the north Londoners may have the chance to finally sign the experienced forward over the coming months. The 31-year-old is reportedly open to extending his contract with Roma but, as things stand, he is heading for the exit.
Eric Dier
Dier’s only Bundesliga start this season was Bayern’s solitary defeat against Mainz before Christmas. The former Spurs and England defender will surely have Premier League suitors ahead of the summer transfer window, with many hoping to snap him up on a free transfer.
