The transfer has been far from a success for Madrid and with just one year left on the original contract he signed at the club, Florentino Perez is now looking to move the player on in the summer transfer window in order to get some form of return back on his initial investment.

According to Spanish outletRelevo, it is their ‘intention’ to not have the winger as part of their squad heading into the new season, as they look to find a suitable landing spot for the man who once set the Premier League alight on a regular basis.

However, with his salary currently the highest on their wage-bill at €15million per year, finding a team willing to pay this price for the lack of end product may be difficult for the hierarchy at the club.

The report goes on to state that in the event they are unable to secure a transfer for Hazard, Madrid will consider terminating his contract to ensure he is no longer amongst the squad, as Carlo Ancelotti begins to plan for the 2023/24 campaign.

Hazard has previously been linked with a return to the Premier League with shock moves such as Aston Villa and Newcastle United both touted as possible landing destinations,.
