Davide Frattesi: “Shame Gianluca Scamacca didn’t join Inter
Midfielder Davide Frattesi thinks it’s a shame fellow Italy international Gianluca Scamacca didn’t join him at Inter Milan.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the 24-year-old also gave his thoughts on the win over Empoli this afternoon, and praised the group at the Nerazzuri.
Frattesi made his big money move to Inter this summer. The Italian international earned the transfer after two very positive seasons at Sassuolo.
Another player who made a high-profile move to a club in Serie A was striker Scamacca. The striker had in fact already moved from Sassuolo, to West Ham in the summer of 2022. Frattesi and Scamacca have played togethet at Sassuolo and it youth level at Lazio.
However, this time around, Scamacca joined Atalanta from the Hammers. La Dea had to beat Inter to Scamacca’s signature.
The 24-year-old was reportedly a major target for the Nerazzurri as they searched for a striker following their falling-out with Romelu Lukaku.
And Frattesi doesn’t hide the fact that he’d have liked to reunite with his international and former club teammate.
Davide Frattesi: Shame Gianluca Scamacca Couldn’t Also Join Inter
Asked if he thinks that it’s too bad that Scamacca didn’t join Inter, Frattesi replied “Definitely. Yes.”
“Because apart from being a friend, he’s also the best striker with the Italian national team,” the Inter midfielder said.
He predicted for Scamacca that “He’ll do well here in Italy.”
Of his start to life at Inter, Frattesi said that “Everything’s been brilliant. From my arrival here at Inter to my goal in the derby to my debut in the Champions League.”
“It’s been an incredible September,” the 24-year-old said.
Of the reason he’s yet to play a full ninety minutes, Frattesi said that “My right flexor muscle has been bothering me.”
Of the group at Inter, Frattesi said that “I told my family, I never expected there to be such a great group here.”
And of the possibility of playing on the left of midfield, the 24-year-old said that “I need to be smart to adapt there.”
“I don’t play on the left much, I invert my stronger foot when I play there. But I can do it.”
