Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been anything but discreet in teasing fans over the club’s next big money signing. Palmer, currently with the England squad at Euro 2024, has taken to Instagram to react to the latest showing of Estevao Willian, who is due to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025.

The 17-year-old sensation scored the crucial second goal for Palmeiras on Sunday in their 3-1 win over Juventude in the Brasileiro Serie A.

It comes just weeks after he agreed to join Chelsea in 12 months’ time, for a reported £29million fee plus a potential £23m more in add-ons.

And his celebration spoke volumes. The Brazilian under-17 international reacted to his second half goal by crossing his arms and doing the ‘cold’ gesture that Palmer has made his own since joining Chelsea from Manchester City

The 22-year-old, who scored 26 times in the 2024/25 season for club and country, was anything but annoyed by Willian seemingly copying his pose though. Instead, he took to Instagram to react to a picture of the moment, and simply commented “Soon.”

Chelsea fans also lauded the confidence of the teenager. They saw his behaviour as evidence that he has been watching his next club closely from afar, and in particular, Palmer.

Fans in west London have already been given reason to be excited by former World Cup winner Branco, who has compared the young winger to Neymar. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had these kids there and Brazil has a spectacular generation,” he told Canal WAMO.

“Brazil for 2026 will arrive very strong, they’ll arrive with strength, speed and quality. Estevao, for me, with all due respect to the others, this is something serious, I’m going to say since Neymar he is the greatest player I’ve seen born in Brazil.”

Palmer meanwhile, will be craving the opportunity to perform the celebration himself right now. His impressive campaign led to a first international call-up from Gareth Southgate, and he made his international debut against Bosnia in May.

He was duly named in the squad for the Three Lions for Germany, but has thus far endured a frustrating tournament. Despite the side seemingly lacking a cutting edge, Palmer is yet to play a minute having been left on the bench for the games against Serbia and Denmark.

That has led to widespread calls for him to be involved on Tuesday against Slovenia. England are virtually guaranteed a place in the last-16, but are in desperate need of three points
