Cole Palmer turns his Nike boots 'cold' as Chelsea ace makes odd customisation

Chelsea star Cole Palmer has turned his football boots ‘cold’ in an unusual customisation he shared on social media. The forward has become synonymous with the slang term after fans started dubbing him ‘Cold Palmer’.

Palmer marks each of his goals by rubbing his upper arms with his opposite hands, as if to gesture that he is cold. And he has taken the trademark one step further by revealing new boots.

The 22-year-old has customised his footwear so that they now feature the freezing face emoji either side of his name. He shared the boots on his Instagram story.

Palmer’s Nikes also include the flags of both England and Saint Kitts and Nevis, the latter being the nationality of his grandfather. The former Manchester City ace is proud of his Caribbean heritage.

Having burst onto the scene last season with 27 goals across all competitions, Palmer has already bagged six this term and seems set to play a key role under Enzo Maresca. Despite Sunday’s narrow 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, Chelsea have enjoyed a positive start to the season.

The Blues were unbeaten in six matches before they travelled to Anfield. They are now sixth in the Premier League and seem primed to challenge for Champions League qualification this season.

Maresca’s system has worked well in the opening months of the campaign. Palmer, playing in a more central role, believes he is able to thrive under the Italian.

He told the Telegraph: “Playing centrally has given me more opportunities to influence the game. I enjoy being involved in the build-up and making key passes as well as scoring. It suits my style, and I think I can be even more effective there.”

Palmer is not available for Chelsea’s Conference League clash with Panathinaikos on Thursday. He was not included in the squad for the competition, with Maresca insisting the Blues needed to “protect” him.

However, Palmer says he has no concerns over his fitness, responding: “Not really. The management’s decision was for the best, and I’m focused on keeping fit and ready for the next opportunities.”

Palmer is remarkably contracted to Chelsea for the next nine years. Asked if he could see himself remaining at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of his career, he said: “Absolutely. Chelsea feels like home to me, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together. I’m fully committed to the club and its future.”
