Fulham alumnus Tosin Adarabioyo couldn’t resist a jibe at West Ham following a 3-0 drubbing on Saturday, where he made his Premier League debut start for his childhood club Chelsea. Stepping in due to defensive rearrangement, Adarabioyo, who entered the pitch late in the previous 1-0 win over Bournemouth, found himself paired with Levi Colwill at the centre of defence.

Notably, if Chelsea failed to secure their first triumph at London Stadium since a Timo Werner shot delivered success for Thomas Tuchel in April 2022, Adarabioyo’s day might have had a less celebratory tone.

The 26 year old, in a teasing post on social media ahead of the match, shared snapshots from his training session, with the taunting caption, “Bubbles to burst. [bubble emoji]”.

Chelsea extended their advantage further after halftime thanks to Cole Palmer, overcoming a pressured end to the first half. By the match’s conclusion, Head Coach Maresca was over the moon, highlighting both the team’s performance and the significance of the victory.

“Especially with the performance and the three points, that is the most important thing,” he noted post-game, adding, “Also, a clean sheet, so it has been a complete performance. We are very happy.”

Enzo Maresca ingeniously shifted Wesley Fofana to right-back given Malo Gusto and Reece James were unavailable.

His inclusion proved decisive as he contributed to Chelsea’s back-to-back clean sheets in league away gamesa first since October 2024even as both West Ham and Bournemouth showed flashes of threatening to score. Nicolas Jackson netted twice early on, putting the Blues firmly in command.

This kind of banter often risks backfiring if results don’t go as planned, but fortunately for the confident Adarabioyo, he anchored a strong performance at the London Stadium.

After the match, he couldn’t resist continuing the theme, posting, “Pop, pop. [bubbles emoji]” This attitude is just another sign that since his arrival, Adarabioyo carries himself with notable confidence.

Limited mainly to the Conference League minutes this season, Adarabioyo has nevertheless started positively at Chelsea. With more displays of capability and cheek like these, he’s on track to quickly become a cherished figure among fans.
