Chelsea may seal their best-case transfer window in just 10 days’ time if they make progress on two deals. The Blues are widely reported to be interested in a move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, while Arsenal have joined the race to sign Conor Gallagher and could ease Chelsea’s profit and sustainability issues.

Chelsea have monitored Olise for some time, though have been made aware they must act immediately after the player reportedly gave his word to Bayern Munich regarding a summer switch.

Tosin Adarabioyo remains Chelsea’s only signing of the summer window, joining for free after leaving Fulham. But the club’s activity is expected to ramp up over the coming weeks.

The Stamford Bridge hierarchy are widely claimed to have made contact with Crystal Palace over a deal for wide man Olise. The 22-year-old has a release clause to the value of £60m although, as Chelsea learned last year, there are several complex stipulations involved in releasing the player from his contract.

Chelsea are expected to battle with the likes of Bayern and Newcastle for Olise’s signature, while Palace are keen to keep their prized asset. There is a belief at Selhurst Park that the progress made under Oliver Glasner in the second half of last season can persuade their top talents to remain.

Palace and Olise are reported to want the former Reading star’s future resolved as soon as possible. That could play into Chelsea’s hands if they make progress on a deal over the coming week.

Meanwhile, there is strong interest in Chelsea midfielder Gallagher. The Blues are likely to need to sell at least one player before the June 30 cut-off point in order to be certain of avoiding a PSR breach.

June 30 is the final date of the 2023-24 season and therefore the last day on which clubs can complete any deals they want to be recorded as taking place in that campaign.

Conor Gallagher

According to Spanish publication AS, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Gallagher. The 24-year-old also has interest from the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and several European clubs. Chelsea are widely reported to value the England international at around £50m.

Arsenal are likely to have the resources to outbid north London rivals Spurs. The Gunners have had success signing players from Chelsea in the past, with Kai Havertz and Jorginho both playing a role in the club’s Premier League title challenge last season.

Mikel Arteta could benefit from an extra player in midfield, with Thomas Partey reportedly likely to leave the Emirates Stadium. Gallagher would be the perfect replacement and his departure from Chelsea, alongside the arrival of Olise, would cap some excellent business for the Blues.
