Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf believes Chelsea are destined to sell Cole Palmer despite the in-form attacker penning a nine-year contract earlier this year. Accusing the Blues’ owners of prioritising business over on-field success, Leboeuf insists the potential departure of Palmer would fit the club’s plan.

The England international has been a hit since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Manchester City in 2023. He has already scored six goals this season, including a remarkable four against Brighton, after bagging 27 times during a fantastic debut campaign.

Chelsea ploughed £45million into signing a then-unproven Palmer from City. The 22-year-old has since extended his contract until 2033, tying him to the West London club until he turns 31.

But a furious Leboeuf is insistent that Chelsea’s owners will still sell the attacking midfielder if they receive a big profit. The Frenchman has not ruled out Real Madrid – or another of Europe’s biggest clubs – offering £100m.

“Well they bought him for a very good price. So I guess if they get an offer for £100 million, because it’s their business, the trading business,” Leboeuf told Safest Casino Sites.

“Chelsea will go against their business model if they don’t sell. Of course the fans are going to be upset but if they don’t sell him for £100 million when they bought him for like £45 million, that would be absolutely stupid of them to forgo their trading business system.

“So yes, they’re going to sell him because they don’t care [about the club]. They are there to make money, not there to get results. Results are for the fans, money are for the owners.

“It’s like the same thing with Manchester United, I guess Liverpool too, those boards they just want money.

“But at the same time, that would be stupid from Real Madrid [to buy Palmer]. They don’t need him. They have Jude Bellingham. Where do you want to put Cole Palmer? On the bench?”

Chelsea are not understood to have any plans to sell Palmer in the near future. Speaking after signing a two-year extension on top of the seven-year contract he signed last year, he insisted he wants to win trophies with the west Londoners.

Palmer said: “I’m delighted to sign this new deal. I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.”
