Chairman praises Saints passionate away support at Wigan | St.Helens R.F.C.

The trip to Wigan is always one of the highlights in our Super League calendar and this year is no different.

Our travelling fans always arrive in huge numbers and give the team a huge and passionate lift. We know how much this means to you, as it does to us. Our away support never ceases to amaze us all and is genuinely appreciated.

We also know that the same will happen this Friday evening in spite of our recent disappointing results. It’s certainly more needed now than ever with nine first choice players out injured, eight of them internationals, and there being so many young players experiencing the away Wigan fixture for the first time.

It’s a fantastic challenge and opportunity for them and one which they are all looking forward to. I’m sure you’ll get behind them and the rest of the team as you always do.

The players and the club value and need your passionate support but also know that they have to perform in order to deserve it. The chips may well be down as we confront our biggest challenge of the season but we must all meet this head on and together.

I’ve no doubt that challenging periods such as these will stand us in good stead for when we get so many key players back later in the season. There is a good portion of the season left and our aims and ambitions are still the same as they were at the beginning of the year. Your incredible support is key to those ambitions and we in turn must look to match it.
