Kevin De Bruyne can help seal a perfect transfer window for Manchester City.
In what could be Pep Guardiola’s final season at Manchester City, the Premier League champions could go all out in his last summer transfer window to send their legendary manager off in style.
A few question marks are lingering over the future of several key players including Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, as Express Sport runs the rule over what would be a perfect transfer window for City.
Bruno Guimaraes deal struck
City are one of several teams interested in signing Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes, who could be the ideal midfield addition alongside Rodri. The Magpies’ exit from Europe as a result of Manchester United’s FA Cup win may give Guimaraes’ suitors a boost, but Newcastle will be desperate to keep hold of the Brazilian.
Various reports have claimed that the 26-year-old has a £100million release clause which expires towards the end of June, but can be paid over three instalments.
City demonstrated their ability to pay a nine-figure fee through their pursuit of Declan Rice a year ago and this time could beat Arsenal to a signing which would transform Guardiola’s midfield and set them up for the future.
Bruno Guimaraes may have played his last game for Newcastle.
Manchester United hijack
Another Premier League club that could receive an approach from City is Crystal Palace for their star winger Michael Olise. Neighbours United are reportedly very interested in the Frenchman, but City are lurking with intent.
The Sun claim that Guardiola is prepared to ‘fight all the way’ to sign Olise this summer after a stunning end to the season under Oliver Glasner.
City are set to bid over £60m for Olise, who has a complex release clause in place at Selhurst Park, but signing the 22-year-old would not only add an exciting forward option – it would also hamper United’s summer plans.

Kevin De Bruyne new contract
City want to hand De Bruyne a new contract and keep him at the Etihad past his current deal’s expiry date of 2025. But his advisors have taken several meetings with Saudi Arabian clubs and although the Belgian is not actively looking to leave Manchester, there will be fears that City’s creator-in-chief may depart with Guardiola.
A new contract would not only tie down one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever players, but send a message to other members of the squad that City can be equally dominant even if their head coach opts to quit after nearly a decade in charge.
Goalkeepers Ederson and Stefan Ortega have been linked with moves away along with Silva, but retaining the vast majority of one of the world’s most expensively assembled squads will be a high priority for director of football Txiki Bergiristain.
