Bruno Fernandes reacts to Mason Mount performance on Manchester United debut
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount made his pre-season debut for the club in the win against Leeds.
Manchester United supporters got a first look at Mason Mount when the club’s new number seven lined up as a starter in the club’s first pre-season game against Leeds.
How Mason Mount performed
A chance opened up for Mason Mount in the very first minute when Manchester United were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out from goal. What a moment it could have been for the club’s new signing to arrow one into the top corner.
Mount instead chose to cross the ball into the box and Leeds headed the ball away. It was a sign that Mount doesn’t quite have the confidence just yet, that Manchester United require from the new number seven.
We can forgive him that, for a first pre-season game, and Mount didn’t seem to be lacking in confidence later on when he attempted an audacious chip when through on goal. His execution was lacking again this time, with the shot off target.
Mount created the opportunity with his pressing, working hard off the ball to win it back, and that was a really positive sign, and illustrated why Erik ten Hag was so keen to snap him up.

Manchester United players react to Mount display
Mason Mount sent a message out on Instagram after Manchester United’s victory, which was achieved via second half goals from Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill.
Manchester United regulars Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes both responded to Mason Mount’s post, with complimentary messages.
Shaw told his England teammate, ‘You look good in red’, while Fernandes wrote, ‘Looking sharp’.
Both players are set to rejoin Manchester United at Carrington on Saturday, although may not be ready to feature in the next match against Lyon next Wednesday.
Mount will be ready to go again, and looking to build on a busy 45 minutes. Perhaps he will have a crack at goal from the next free-kick.
