Bayern Munich are reportedly putting plans in place to lure Bruno Fernandes to the Allianz Arena this summer.

The Manchester United man is said to be high up on the German giant’s transfer wishlist, despite the midfielder recently expressing no desire to leave Old Trafford.

Fernandes captained United to FA Cup glory this season, having been handed the armband by Erik ten Hag at the start of the campaign.

But according to reports from Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Fernandes’ agent has been in contact with Bayern over the possibility of a summer transfer.

The record German champions have made a habit out of shopping from the Premier League in recent months, with ex-Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Eric Dier joining last season.

With the addition of former Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany as manager, the six-time European champions could once again focus their attention on players from England’s top flight.

However, it isn’t just Bayern who are said to be keen on the 29-year-old, with Barcelona having also having expressed an interest.

The La Liga side are believed to be a long-time admirer of Fernandes and could spring a move, should United show a willingness to sell this summer.

Fernandes – who joined the Red Devils for £47million in January 2020 – boasts two years left on his bumper contract, meaning if United were hoping to cash in, this summer would represent the best chance for them to do so.

It comes after Fernandes penned a lengthy message revealing his desire to stay at the club, seemingly dismissing any possibility of a transfer.

Speaking in The Players’ Tribune, Fernandes said: “After this difficult season, it is my responsibility to give more. It starts with me. And it starts tomorrow. We have to give everything in this last match against City, and we have to move forward.

“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.

“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing.”

He continued: “We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in the cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve.
