Barcelona ready to launch another Man City raid as Pep prepares to fend off former club again

Barcelona are expected to return with another offer for a top Manchester City star in the coming weeks as Pep Guardiola attempts to fend off his old club.

Attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva has been on Barca’s radar all summer, with the player himself said to be ‘dreaming’ of a move to the Nou Camp.

Indeed, sources from inside the club claim the Portugal international is ‘crazy’ about making the switch to Catalonia.

And while news over a potential move has gone quiet of late, Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo states that the LaLiga giants are ready to try their luck again.

Mundo claims that there is a strong wish from Xavi to bring the player in, with the Barca coach insisting that Silva is the club’s ‘priority number one’.

Barcelona are aware, however, of just how difficult it will be to try and prise Silva from the clutches of Guardiola.

The City chief regards Silva as one his most crucial players, with the 28-year-old playing a major role in the club’s Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup success last season.

Barca also have the added issue of how they propose to fund the transfer, given their continuing financial concerns.

The report adds that they are considering a loan with an obligatory clause to buy, although the chances of City actually accepting that deal are slim and probably none.

Either way, Xavi is ready to ask the question again, in the hope that Silva is so desperate for the move that he ends up forcing City’s hand.
