Barcelona eyeing a move for this Tottenham talent- The 4th Official

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro this summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are hoping to land the Spanish talent who will join Spurs permanently later this year.

Porro’s Impressive Loan Spell In The Premier League

Porro enjoyed a decent loan spell at Tottenham last season as he managed to put in a handful of solid performances for them on the right flank. The Spanish sensation found the back of the net three times and earned three assists in 17 matches for Spurs in the previous campaign on all fronts.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye at both ends of the pitch based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.7 shots, 1.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 75.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at his parent club Sporting is set to run out in 2025. Hence, Barcelona would find it difficult to land Porro on the cheap in this off-season.

What Will Porro Add To Barcelona Boss Xavi’s Side?

Porro is a decent tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team when he is playing well on the field. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can also deliver some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty box.

The Spanish wide player can also make a few driving runs with the ball and can shoot the ball with power from long range. However, Porro needs to work on improving his link-up play in the opponent’s half if he wants to taste success at the highest level.

We can expect the Spaniard to add more energy and dynamism to Barcelona boss Xavi’s first XI. He might even help the Catalan club challenge for some major silverware over the next few years.

At 23, the Don Benito-born footballer has his best years ahead of him. Therefore, Barca should focus on getting a deal done for Porro during this summer transfer window as he has what it takes to earn a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp next season.
