Arteta can seal ‘dream’ signing for £17m as Arsenal look to reignite interest in Barcelona man

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could be able to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres this summer at a reduced price, according to reports.

The Gunners have given a brilliant showing in the Premier League this season, finishing just behind champions Manchester City and qualifying for the Champions League.

That will give Arsenal more pull in the summer transfer market with Football.London claiming former Manchester City forward Torres is a ‘dream’ target for the Gunners boss.

It is claimed that ‘an exit is on the cards’ for Torres at Barcelona over the summer after joining them for £47m from City in January 2022.

But it is now understood that Barcelona ‘could be willing to accept an offer as low as £17m’ for Torres but they insist ‘whether the Gunners will reignite that interest is unknown though’.

The report suggests it ‘could be a bargain too good to miss’ for Arsenal who want to make every penny count this summer.

Arteta has admitted that to be successful next season thaArsenal must “nail everything” in the transfer market and get their business done early.

The Arsenal boss said recently: “We have to nail everything that we do and we have to seek excellence in everything that we touch and participate in, to have a big impact at the club.

“I think the competition is going to be even harder than this season. In my opinion, it’s been the hardest of the 22 years that I’ve been in this league.

“In order to do that, we have a really promising plan. We may have to reflect a little bit, take a step back, make sure this is the right one and go again with more determination and hunger in the tummies to do even better.”

One player who seems set to leave Arsenal is Granit Xhaka with reports he could be on his way to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Arteta seemed to suggest that Xhaka was on his way out of the club in his post-match interview on Sunday.

Arteta said: “He did what he needed to do and he has done it the whole season. He has been magnificent for us. I had the opportunity to say thank you. He is a player who had a special story and he has been integral.

“It is part of my job to make the decisions that are best for the club. His story is really nice.”
