Omar Rekik was allowed to leave by Arsenal on deadline day.
Former Arsenal defender Omar Rekik is searching for a new club after having his contract torn up on deadline day.
After spending time in the Arsenal academy, as well as Manchester City’s youth set-up, Rekik has spent the majority of his professional career bouncing around from loan to loan.
From spells with Wigan Athletic, Sparta Rotterdam and most recently Servette, the Tunisian international is now on the lookout for a permanent home.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports the Gunners came to a mutual agreement during the chaos of deadline day.
It’s claimed that Rekik pushed for the contract termination – a decision Arsenal were happy to sanction.
Rekik never actually featured for the senior team, with his only minutes in the red and white of Arsenal coming for the under-21s.
What’s more, given Rekik is valued at £500,000 by Transfermarkt, the north Londoners didn’t take too much of a hit by letting him leave on a free.
It was just one move the capital club completed during a hectic 24-hour period at the London Colney training facility.

Omar Rekik featured in Arsenal’s summer tour of the States.
The biggest of course being Raheem Sterling’s switch from Premier League rivals Chelsea, with the Englishman signed on a season-long loan deal.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s draw against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend, manager Mikel Arteta told TNT Sports: “We are very happy with what we have done…
“We know his qualities, it’s a big step up for us, we have brought a player with top talent and plenty of experience that hopefully is going to impact the team in a positive way.
“He’s got his numbers [at City] because he was playing under a great manager [Pep Guardiola] with great players around him that did so much for him, if you do that he is going to score the goals and create so many issues to the opponent – that’s what we have to do as a team.”
Elsewhere, goalkeeper Neto arrived from Bournemouth as a short-term option to replace Aaron Ramsdale, who departed for Southampton.
Reiss Nelson joined fellow London outfit Fulham until the end of the season, whereas Eddie Nketiah’s nine-year stint as a Gunner came to an end after he penned a £30million move to Crystal Palace.
Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Premier League and will return to action against Tottenham Hotspur following the international break.
