Jurrien Timber has confessed that Arsenal have been left devastated after a potential victory at the Etihad was snatched away from them.

However, Timber has issued a stern warning to their fierce rivals Manchester City, stating that Mikel Arteta’s squad will stop at nothing to outdo them in this season’s title race.

Arteta was on the brink of securing his first win at City, until John Stones managed to claw back a 2-2 draw for the reigning champions in the 98th minute.

This was despite Arsenal being reduced to 10 men before half time, following Leandro Trossard’s dismissal.

Timber admitted that the outcome left Arsenal gutted. Yet, he believes the nature of their performance lays a solid foundation for them to accomplish great things this season.

The Dutch international stated: “It felt like two hours of defending! It was tough, but it would have been worth it if we had won. Even with this draw, we can be proud of ourselves.

“We’re gutted and disappointed, but also proud of the team because we gave everything we could. I think there’s one moment, and they score, which is really sad for us, but I think we can look back on a good game from us.

“We feel like we could win this game. That moment with the referee in the first half changed the whole game, but those are sometimes things you don’t have in hand. What we had in hand, we gave everything.

“In the second half, we did everything we could, we left it all out there, and it wasn’t enough. Hopefully next time it will. You want to win. We just need to keep going and keep improving.

“I think we showed a huge performance at City. No win, unlucky, but I think we can build on this for sure.”
