Arsenal could end up bringing as many as three new players to the Emirates Stadium before the summer window slams shut. There are just five days until clubs will no longer be able to do business, meaning time is of the essence when it comes to making new signings.

The Gunners have already welcomed David Raya back to the club on a permanent basis, with Riccardo Calafiori also joining from Bologna. Mikel Arteta has remained coy when quizzed on further signings but there is every chance of more players arriving in the coming days.

They are said to be closing in on a move for Mikel Merino, who reportedly underwent a medical in north London over the weekend. The next step will be for Arsenal to unveil him as their latest capture, having agreed to pay Real Sociedad around £32million for his signature.

Arsenal will also need to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Aaron Ramsdale if the England stopper goes out on loan. He has been linked with a potential move to Wolves, while Southampton were said to have failed in an attempt to sign him earlier in the window.

Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia is said to have emerged as a target for Arsenal after winning Olympic gold as part of the Spain squad. It has been reported that personal terms have already been agreed but any deal will hinge on whether Ramsdale departs.

The Gunners have also been tipped to sign another forward to boost their attacking ranks for another Premier League title challenge. Last week, they were linked with an ambitious move for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who was previously targeted by Barcelona.

The 22-year-old is among the most coveted wingers in world football and would be the ideal choice to partner Bukayo Saka in the wide positions. However, it is said that he would prefer to stay in Spain and he appears to be fully committed to Bilbao.

Ademola Lookman is believed to be another target for the Gunners but it remains to be seen if there is room for a deal to be done. It has been reported that Jakub Kiwior could be included in a part-exchange offer to drive down Atalanta’s asking price of around £51m.

PSG are said to have a verbal agreement with Lookman, although talks over a transfer fee are yet to prove fruitful. The former Everton man is represented by the same agency as Kai Havertz, which could swing proceedings in Arsenal’s favour.

More recently, the Gunners have been linked with a potential move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Chelsea are known to have a long-standing interest in the Nigeria international but have reportedly struggled to get anywhere in talks at club level.

Arsenal are now leading the race for Osimhen’s signature, according to La Repubblica, but it remains to be seen if his wage demands will put a deal beyond their reach. He has a release clause of around £110m but Napoli are said to be willing to consider bids in the region of £84m.
