Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has made a host of changes at the training ground in Kirkby
Arne Slot has raised some eyebrows with his impressive start to his Liverpool reign after introducing a host of transformative changes to the club’s training ground routine.
Slot succeeded Anfield hero Jurgen Klopp in June with the difficult task of attempting to replace an iconic figure in the club’s history. But the 46-year-old has looked remarkably unfazed, implementing his own tried and trusted masterplan to keeping the club on top.
The Dutchman has guided the Reds to the summit of the Premier League and, with major changes to their dietary habits and increased competition in the squad, it is no surprise the Merseyside outfit are thriving.
For instance, Slot has made it ‘compulsory’ for Liverpool players to eat breakfast together at the training ground, according to The Athletic. This is said to be part of his ethos that squad chemistry is essential to their potential future success.
That is not the only change from the previous regime under Klopp either. They are also required to report for a wellness check at around 9.45am, where the players enter information into a digital app that measures and analyses the quality of their sleep.
Prior to the start of training, sessions may involve yoga and hydrotherapy to get the squad in optimum shape. Then they train together for around 90 minutes before making their way home by 3pm.

Slot’s unique approach to training has caught the eye, with the players spotted chasing tennis balls that were placed on cones before their win against Bologna in the Champions League.
The drill not only involves gruelling sprints with stars pitted against each other, it also adds another layer of competitiveness between members of the squad as they battle for a place in the Dutchman’s starting XI.
Even with intensive tactical briefings and long team meetings, his methods have had a positive impact, with Andy Robertson one of the players to publicly praise his team’s work behind the scenes.

“We don’t leave any stone unturned,” Robertson said after the 2-1 win over Wolves. “The staff have been really good at making us prepared for every single game, making sure we are as fresh as possible.”
With five victories from their opening seven matches, including a clinical 3-0 win over historic rivals Manchester United, Slot has made an immediate impact despite only making one summer signing – bringing in Federico Chiesa from Juventus for £12million – while Giorgi Mamardashvili will arrive next summer from Valencia.
As long as his team continue on the winning path, his methods will only provoke more intrigue from his managerial counterparts as Liverpool benefit from gains in the small details.
