Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to leave behind his stunning £5million mansion if he decides to move to Real Madrid. The 26-year-old’s future at Liverpool is growing increasingly uncertain, with his contract due to expire in the summer.

European champions Real Madrid have made him their top transfer target and reportedly approached Liverpool on New Year’s Eve in a shock attempt to sign him this January. The Reds rejected those advances for their vice-captain, who has risen through the ranks of the club’s academy and won every possible trophy, cementing his status as an Anfield legend.

But with Alexander-Arnold free to negotiate with other clubs this month, the La Liga juggernauts are expected to ramp up their efforts to sign him come the end of the season. Marca reports that the right-back is keen on a move to Madrid, having been linked for some time with Los Blancos, where his close friend Jude Bellingham has flourished.

Spanish media claim he has even informed Liverpool of his desire to leave as a free agent in the summer, though various UK outlets have refuted these reports. If Alexander-Arnold does choose to depart, it would mean moving out of his luxurious Cheshire mansion.

He purchased his multi-million-pound property from former England team-mate Raheem Sterling in 2022 when the forward left Manchester City for Chelsea. The five-bedroom pad, which spans a massive five acres, comes with a range of luxuries. It boasts a swimming pool, cinema, games room, bar, wildlife pond and paddock.

Alexander-Arnold even spent £50,000 on a padel court in his garden. But the footballer found himself in hot water for failing to secure council approval first. He was threatened with demolishing the court after neighbours feared noisy matches would disturb their tranquillity.

The court itself is 130sqm and has a maximum height of four metres for the side panels. Ultimately, the council deemed the building plans acceptable – but not without some compromise.

The Reds star was ordered to tear down four floodlights and hire landscapers to plant trees and hedges to provide screening for the court. The council ruled that the environmental impacts of the court were “relatively low.”

Should rumours of his desire to join Los Blancos come to fruition, the defender might consider purchasing a mansion in Madrid with similar luxuries. England team-mate Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid in 2023, chose to live in a £5.5m property located in the city’s exclusive La Finca district.

The 21-year-old immediately took to the mansion when being shown around the property, which is complete with a large pool at the back of the garden, a home gym, home theatre, luxury kitchen and stunning views of a golf course.

The departure of one of Anfield’s own for free would come as a huge blow to Liverpool, given that Alexander-Arnold has spent 20 years with the Reds. He made his professional debut back in 2016, racking up 333 appearances in all competitions in the nine seasons since.
