Douglas Luiz and Alisha Lehmann reportedly fell victim to a burglary at their Turin residence on Saturday night, with robbers making off with hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

Both Luiz, 26, and Lehmann, 25, transferred from Aston Villa to Juventus in the summer. The pair were key players for Villa’s men’s and women’s teams respectively before their high-profile move to Italy.

Italian media reports claim that they were burgled over the weekend. It is reported that 11 watches belonging to Luiz and diamond necklaces owned by Lehmann were stolen while Luiz was on the pitch for Juventus against Lazio.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Brazilian midfielder returned home to discover his house in disarray after the thieves had made their escape. Lehmann was away with her team-mates in a hotel preparing for her own match this weekend, leaving the property unoccupied.

The alarm was sounded around 1.30am when Luiz arrived home, prompting the arrival of police and forensic teams at the property. It is believed that the burglars made off with approximately €500,000 (£416,000) worth of jewellery during the raid.

Luiz and Lehmann join a growing list of Juventus players who have been targeted by burglars in Turin in recent years, following similar incidents involving Moise Kean, Kaio Jorge and Angel Di Maria.

Luiz and Lehmann turned heads when they publicised their romance in 2021, later reuniting after a brief split in November 2022. Their dual transfer to Juventus marked an unprecedented ‘couples transfer’ narrative during the summer window.

Previously acknowledged as one of the Premier League’s standout midfield maestros, Luiz reportedly made the switch for a hefty £50million fee, banking around £100,000 per week.

Lehmann has been candid about the stark pay discrepancy between them, with the Swiss star highlighting that Luiz’s paycheck is “a hundred times more than me.”

Expressing her views on the matter, she stated: “Everyone would like to have the same salary. I often speak to Douglas at home about this and tell him it’s not fair. We do the same job, but he gets paid a hundred times more than me.”

Furthermore, Lehmann touched upon gender biases, saying, “It’s something that affects me because I’m a woman. Obviously, there’s still a long way to go on the path we’re on because there may never be equal pay.”
