Express Sport looks at the dream scenario for Arsenal over the next six days
Arsenal sporting director Edu could be about to pull off a few exciting deals in the final week of the summer transfer window. There are just six days until clubs will no longer be able to do business, meaning time is of the essence when it comes to bringing players in.
The Gunners have welcomed two new faces since the end of last season, with Mikel Arteta taking a cautious approach in the market. David Raya returned on a permanent basis before Riccardo Calafiori joined from Bologna in a deal worth around £38million.
Arsenal have since been tipped to complete at least one more signing before the window slams shut on Friday. However, with time running out to get things done, it remains to be seen if everything will go to plan over the coming days.

The Gunners are said to be chasing a late move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman
Lookman snubs PSG to join Gunners
Arsenal will be hoping to secure a late move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, who is said to be valued at around £51m. However, it has been reported that PSG have a verbal agreement with the 26-year-old, although talks over a transfer fee are yet to prove fruitful.
The Gunners are monitoring the situation and could look to pounce in the coming days if PSG fail to agree terms at club level. Lookman is represented by the same agency as Kai Havertz, which could swing proceedings in Arsenal’s favour when it comes to snapping him up.
Edu seals £32m move for Merino
The signing of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad looks set to be confirmed in the near future, with only minor details left to be ironed out. Arsenal have reportedly agreed to pay around £32m for Merino and it seems likely that he will join the Gunners before next week’s deadline.
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with the former Newcastle man eager to finalise his return to the Premier League. It is said that he recently spoke to Arteta on the phone, which only reinforced his desire to move to north London this summer.

Garcia joins to replace Ramsdale
Arsenal could secure the perfect end to the summer window by landing Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia to replace Aaron Ramsdale, who has been linked with a loan move to Wolves after slipping behind Raya in the pecking order.
It has been reported that Arsenal have already settled on personal terms with Garcia, who recently won Olympic gold as part of the Spain squad. At the moment, there is no agreement at club level with Espanyol but that could change over the next seven days.
