Chelsea may be about to sign three players for a combined transfer fee of £87million with Todd Boehly still working hard to improve Enzo Maresca’s squad. It looks set to be a frantic summer window for the Blues, who have already spent heavily to strengthen their ranks.

Eight new players have joined the west Londoners since the end of last season in what is shaping up to be another hugely expensive window. Chelsea have splashed just shy of £95m but it seems that figure could increase by almost twice as much before the end of this week.

Three other exciting deals could soon be completed, with the Blues thought to be active on a number of fronts. The one that looks furthest along is their pursuit of Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders, who is reportedly set to join Chelsea in a deal worth around £17m.

According to HLN, the teenage stopper is expected to sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge with terms all but agreed at club level. He will become the most expensive goalkeeper from a Belgian club, with the fee surpassing that paid by Brighton to land Bart Verbruggen last summer.

Chelsea may also look to improve their attacking threat with the signing of Julian Alvarez, who is reportedly looking to leave Manchester City. The 24-year-old is said to be frustrated with his playing time at the Etihad Stadium, having been deployed as a utility man rather than in his preferred striking role.

City do not tend to stand in the way of players who want to leave and they are reportedly willing to sanction his exit for a fee of around £40m. However, it remains to be seen if they will be prepared to do business with a Premier League rival by selling him to Chelsea as opposed to a foreign side.

Another potential target could emerge in the form of Federico Chiesa, who has been tipped to leave Juventus after entering the final year of his contract. His representatives have already reached out to Chelsea to express their interest in starting negotiations, according to Simon Phillips.

Chiesa is valued at £30m by Transfermarkt, which is a fee that Chelsea would likely have no qualms about paying given their heavy spending in recent transfer windows. Only time will tell if he ends up joining the Blues, though, with a host of other clubs thought to be keeping close tabs.
